Mr. Everett Wattam, an old resident of the city, died yesterday afternoon at St. Edward's hospital where he had been confined for the past two months with a complication of diseases. He was seventy-six years old and was a native of England but had lived in this country over sixty years. He is survived by six children. They are Walter Wattam, of this city; John and Joseph Wattam and Mrs. Del Norwood, of Evansville; William Wattam, of Cincinnati, and Mrs. Amanda Pefhoe, of Vincennes. He was chief of the fire department from 1878 to 1880 and for several years before his death held the position of superintendent of Scribner Park. He was a member of New Albany Lodge, No. 10, I.O.O.F.; Rowena Lodge, Knights of Pythias, and of the Veteran Volunteer Firemen's Association.
