"Solomon Snyder was born in Perry county, Ohio, May 16, 1811, and died at Metz. Ind., February 23, 1889, aged 78 years, 9 months and seven days. His home was in Perry county, Ohio, till 1832; then in Fairfield county, Ohio, till 1860; then in Fulton county, Ohio, till 1883; then at Metz, Ind., till death. He was first married at Lancaster, Ohio, to Nancy Baylor, March 16, 1834, who bore him four children, and died December 31 1852. He was again married at Franklin, Ohio, to Delilah Bowser, June 16, 1865, who bore him three children, making seven in all, all of whom with the wife survive him. Father Snider was fifty years a consistent member of the U.B. church, having given his heart to Christ in early life, and always maintained a christian character till called to his reward. Funeral took place at Mt. Pleasant church on Monday, Feb. 25, at 10 o'clock, conducted by Elder Lily, of Hicksville, Ohio." ("The Steuben Republican", Steuben Co., IN 27 Feb 1889)
