Lugene "Big Luke" Foutch, Abingdon Chapel age 79 of Abingdon, died at 8:05 pm Friday, November 30, 2012 at home.
He was born on June 30, 1933 in Vermont, Illinois, the son of Harley and Cordia Mae (Servis) Foutch. He married Nancy Paulette Green on October 7, 1965 in Pacific Junction, Iowa.
Lugene is survived by his wife, Nancy; three daughters, Ronda Gene Stanley of Seattle, Washington, Sharon Lynn Asencio of Galesburg and Barbara Ann (and Mike) Johnson of Abingdon; 12 grandchildren and13 great-grandchildren; one uncle, Mark (and Dona) Moon of Abingdon, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Frances Foutch and two brothers, Donavan Foutch and Van Foutch.
He attended schools in Vermont and Abingdon. He served in the Air Force with the 479th Fighter-Day Wing Division during the Korean War. He had lived most of his life in Abingdon. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad as a machinist for 43 years, retiring on May 31, 1995. He also was a carrier for the Galesburg Register-Mail. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Abingdon. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids, he loved working in his garden and with the fruit trees, and he was a train enthusiast.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will follow in the Vermont Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday at the chapel.
