MATTHEW BEACH
Coroner Ascribes His Sudden Death Saturday As Due to Heart Trouble

In the case of Matthew Beach, aged 36, a laborer, who died suddenly on south Mulberry street Saturday evening about 5 o'clock. Coroner Henning has filed a verdict of death due to acute dilation of the heart. Mr. Beach was taken ill while near the Moreland coal office and was carried in there, but expired in a very few minutes before the arrival of a physician. The funeral, and burial in Springdale cemetery, took place this afternoon. The death brought to light that Beach's family of a wife, three children and her aged parents, of whom he was the sole support, were in most needy circumstances. The family lives at the corner of Third and Walnut streets, and when known there was a quick and generous response to their needs from charitable persons and organizations. Beach, while an employe at the button factory last spring, lost an eye from a flying piece of shell and was drawing a small sum of money weekly under the compensation act. At the time of his death he was going to purchase a small amount of coal for Sunday and Christmas day.

Not now, but in the coming years
It may be in the better land
We'll read the meaning of our tears
And there sometime we'll understand.
