Obituary was printed in the East St. Louis Daily Journal, August 20, 1928, pgs 1,2 & 10. According to the story, Mary was killed in a car crash.

Mary Hagene is the dau of Nicholas A. (1872-1960) and Mary (Meier) Hagene (1873-1953). She was one of their 14 children: Edward Hagene, Ida (Hagene) Overall, Nicholas Hagene, Henry Hagene, George Hagene, Elizabeth (Hagene) Potts, William J. Hagene, Ella (Hagene) Carroll Costello, Clarence Francis Otto Hagene, Louis B. Hagene, Mary Hagene, Walter J. "Target" Hagene, Joseph J. Hagene, and Lillian Hagene.

*NOTE - Penny Elizabeth Potts, dau of Bill & Betty Jo Potts, was buried Feb. 21, 1953 on this same gravesite. Penny was just 36 hrs old. There is no marker, just the cemetery records.
