Funeral services for Selena A. Book, age 62, of Abilene, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Community Bible Church in Abilene with Pastor Jonathan Wenger officiating. Mrs. Book passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Kaye Pogue Hospice Center in Salina.
She was born August 29, 1950 in Stafford, Kansas the daughter of LeRoy and Bessie Ellen (Tate) Wood. Selena graduated from Solomon High School and received her associate's degree in business in Hutchinson. Selena enjoyed cooking and opening up her home to others. Because of her incredible love for Jesus and overseas missions, she was a part of helping various missionaries serving overseas. Above all though, she loved being a wife and mom.
On November 26, 1969 she married Kenneth E. Book in Solomon. Survivors include her husband of the home and her daughters Stephanie Book of Abilene, Kimberly and husband Jarrod Reinert of Tescott, Amber Book of Abilene; and a sister Lael Seymour of Moundridge. Selena was preceded in death by her brother Tharon Wood; sister Rowenna Weers, and her parents.
Burial will be in the Farmington Pioneer Cemetery near Abilene. Visitation will be after 1:00 p.m. Friday with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Tribes Mission or to Kaye Pogue Hospice and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
