Bonnie I. Ayers married Henry H. Gawthorp on December 24, 1933 in Newton, Illinois, he died February 27, 1973.

Surviving are a son, Allan Gawthorp of Bloomington, Illinois; three brothers, Donald Ayers of Philomath, Oregon; Dean Ayers of Rantoul, Illinois; and Wiley Ayers of Texas; four sisters, Dorothy Armstrong of Peoria, Illinois; Ruth Pipher of Dallas, Oregon; Jean Lemmel of Kenney, Illinois; and Marjorie Massey of Riverside, California; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She had been a cook in many McLean County restaurants.

Mrs. Gawthorp was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church; a founding member of REACT citizens band radio emergency group; a member of Eastern Illinois Monitors and Corn Belt CB radio clubs; and a member of Tri-Lakes Fishing Club.
