Wilbur Calvin Graeter was born on February 16, 1930 in Giddings, Texas to Harry T. & Frances (Wilson) Graeter.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and received his Honorable Discharge in 1957 having obtained the rank of Sergeant. Wilbur was retired from the Travis State School where he had been employed for 30 years.

He was a member of the American Legion York Post #276 in Giddings, the VFW Post 4486 in Giddings and the First Baptist Church in Giddings. Wilbur enjoyed watching the Giddings Buffalo football games and drinking coffee and visiting with friends with the "coffee groups" at Brookshire Brothers and Mel's Diner before his health began to fail in the last couple of years.

He passed away during the early morning hours of Friday, November 30, 2012 at St. Mark's Medical Center in La Grange.

Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, James Hannes; a great nephew, Ryan Hannes and a great niece, Lauren Hannes.

He is survived by his two sisters, Doris Hannes of Houston and Ruth Crouch of Bulverde as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled at the Giddings City Cemetery with Tim Pitts officiating. Visitation will be at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rodney Hannes, Barry Hannes, Andy Crouch and Cody Crouch.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 600 Sunrise Ave., Giddings, Texas 78942, the American Legion York Post 276, P.O. Box 303, Giddings, Texas 78942 or to the charity of one's choice.
