"Elisha Hamilton Lindley, born in Walton County, married first Sarah Smith, and after her death, Jane Thomas Scott of Newton County. He was a member of the Secession Convention and later a representative from Cobb in the state legislature. He served in the Confederate army as first lieutenant, Company D, Seventh Georgia Regiment, his son, Honathan F., being also a member of that company throughout the war. ."

"Elisha Lindley was killed in 1876 in a wreck on the W. & A. railroad at Iceville, near the Chattahoochee River."

Note: ... fought in the war of Southern Independence of 1861-65. He died at home on Oct. 12.1876 at age 60 He is the Father of Pvt. William R. Lindley of the same Reg. & Cemetery.
