On August 10th, 1926, Charles Thomas Deeds was born to parents Charles Edward and Marion Walker Deeds.
The first of three children, Charles was joined by siblings Joan Phyllis and Robert Walker Deeds. In 1945, he joined the U.S. Army. While in the Pacific Theater, he earned six decoration ribbons and medals. Charles was a graduate of the University of Kansas with a Degree in Chemistry and a minor in History. In Lawrence, Kansas, he also met the love of his life and future wife, Patricia Jeanne Corder. After moving to Houston with Pat, Charles began a career as a chemist at the Bellaire Shell Research facility where he specialized in clay and shale chemistry. He will be remembered by those who knew him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, veteran, hard worker, passionate Democrat, gardener, talented jeweler, and family historian. He enjoyed good food, wine, books, and beautiful music. On Monday November 26th, 2012, after a short battle with cancer, Charles passed away at age 86.
He is survived by his brother Robert and sister-in-law Marlene; sons Charles and Robert; daughter-in-law Tinh, grandchildren Rafferty and Aileen, and many loving nephews, nieces, and their children.
A celebration of his life will be held this Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 3:00-3:45 P.M. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079, followed by a graveside service. Family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Charles' memory.
