HINES Roy R. "Chick", 64, El Reno, died April 12, 1991 at the Baptist Medical Center, Okc. He was born Jan. 14, 1927 at Rocky Ford CO. Mr. Hines moved to Binger at a young age and attended school there.
He served in the US Army during WWII and received his discharge in 1945. Mr. Hines came to El Reno in 1947 and worked for the Chicago Rock Island and Pacific Railroad as a carman, retiring in 1976 with disability. He married Norma Wilburn in 1946, to that union were born Don and Judy Ann. Norma preceded him in death in 1979. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Cecile Hines; 1 brother and 3 sisters. Mr. Hines was married to Lillie Jernigan Urton on June 16, 1979. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of El Reno and the BRAC. Survivors include his wife Lillie of the home; son, Don Hines and his wife, Glenda of Hobbs NM; daughter, Mrs. Judy Slayton and her husband Gary of Hinton, OK; 2 step-sons, Clyde E. Urton and his wife Connie of Hinton and Robert A. Urton of Okc; 1 step-daughter, Mrs. Linda Thrasher and her husband Ted of Lafayette LA; 9 grandchildren, Rogers Hines of Hobbs NM, Brent Hines of Las Cruces NM, Clay Wright and Mike Wright both of Hinton, Colynda Christina and Clarissa Urton all of Hinton, David Urton of Yukon and Adam Thrasher of Lafayette LA; 2 brothers, Wayne Hines of Hobbs, NM and Leo Hines of Orangevale CA; 4 sisters, Gladys Cox of El Cajon CA, Eileen Archibald of Gila NM, Irene Welty of Winston NM and Cecilla Reckard of Hinton. Services under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home in El Reno.
