Mildred Louise Moberly, 80, of Jefferson Maryland died after a brief illness at Frederick Memorial Hospital on November 27, 2012. Born September 29, 1932, near Taneytown Maryland, Mildred was the daughter of the late Harvey Alton Lescalleet and Mary Lula Idalee Whitmer Lescalleet.
She was the wife of the late Wilber Wilhide Alexander of Taneytown, Maryland who passed away in May of 1961.
Mildred is survived by her son Alan Lescalleet and his wife Debbie of Jefferson, Maryland, Michael Alexander and his wife JoAnne of Finksburg, Maryland and her loving granddaughter Kristen Marie Alexander of Baltimore ,Maryland.
Millie (as she was known to her close friends), was blessed to be part of a large nuclear family consisting of ten brothers and sisters. She is survived by her eldest sister Francis Burks of New Oxford, Pennsyvania, Nancy Ray of Hagerstown, Maryland, Helen Johnson of Thurmont, Maryland and Wayne Lescalleet of Rocky Ridge, Maryland. Millie was proceaded in passing by her brothers George Lescalleet, Earl Lescalleet and Carroll Lescalleet as well as her sisters Katherine Southerland, Genevieve Besore and Patricia Hess. In addition Millie had numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved deeply. Millie will also be missed by her close and dear friend Nancy Smith of Thurmont, Maryland.
During the early stages of her life Millie helped on the various family farms with her father and family. After high school she became a nursing assistant at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Upon her marriage she became a full time mother to her sons. Later in life Millie became an employee for the Woolworth Corporation, first as Human Resource Manager for Woolco in the Seventh Street Shopping Center and later for the Woolworth Store at the same location. After their closing she retired and became a fixture in the Jefferson community.
Mildred spent much of her later life visiting with family and spending weekends with friends. She was devoted to her granddaughter Kristen and loved spoiling her. Her passion for animals was well known, in particular her favorite cats Charlie and Spike. Millie had an unbelievable talent for raising and cultivating all types of house plants, especially cacti.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Ave., Brunswick on Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8PM.
