Millard L. Stanforth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carey Arledge, Hillsboro, has completed Army basic training conducted by the 3rd Armored Division here.
During his 16 weeks of intensive training he attended classes on general military subjects and had practical work in the many combat skills. He also learned to fire the basic Army weapons, the M-1 rifle, carbine, mortar, .45 pistol and light machine guns.
He entered the Army Oct. 30, 1951.

Millard L. Stanforth, 34, Martinsville, died in Greenfield Hospital, Sunday morning. He was the son of Willard Earl and Mary Wilkin Stanforth and was born in Hillsboro January 13, 1931.
He is survived by his widow, Norma Jean Mead Stanforth, whom he married November 30, 1957. He worked for the Randall Co. in Wilmington.
Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Mary Arledge, Greenfield; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stanforth, New Vienna; three sons, Jimmy, Millard Jr., and John and a daughter, Gloria Jean, all at home; a brother, Roland Stanforth, Greenfield; two sisters, Mrs. Rosalie Huntsman and Mrs. Bonnie Hilterbrand, both of Greenfield, and two step-sisters, Patricia Arledge and Jane Arledge, both of Greenfield.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 P.M. at Smith Funeral Home, New Vienna, in charge of Rev. Frank Dunn, with interment following in New Vienna IOOF Cemetery.
Friends may call from Tuesday noon until time of services.
