The "Silver Books" of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants (GSMD) show Samuel Standish as the son of Samuel Standish and Deborah Gates. The Silver Book, Vol. 14 of Myles Standish, page 50, shows Samuel as born in Preston, New London, CT, on 1 Dec 1713. This birth date and parents names is also shown in the Barbour Collection for Town Birth Records for Preston.

The Silver Books show no date of death for Samuel. The show him living in 1771. So his death date is AFTER 1771.

Per the Silver Books, on 31 March 1752, in Preston, he married Abigail (Brown) Backus. Abigail's first husband was Stephen Backus.

Per the Silver Books, Samuel Standish was taxed in the town of Nine Partners, NY, from June 1758 through Feb 1762 and in the town of Amenia, NY, June 1762 through June 1767.

Also in the Silver Books, is that a March 1760 Court record asks for a partition of a tract of land in Stonington, and shows Samuel and wife Abigail were "of Albany NY".

The Silver Books indicate that there are no Probate Records or Land Records for Samuel Standish in Dutchess County, NY.

The Silver Books show their children as:
1) Samuel b. Norwich, CT, 8 May 1753;
2) Lois b.23 Aug. 1757; baptised Amenia, NY, 26 Mar 1764 [note same day as Abigail and Asa];
3) Abigail bp. Amenia, NY, 26 Mar 1764 [note same day as Lois and Asa]
4) Asa bp. Amenia, NY 26 Mar 1764 [note same day as Lois and Abigail];
5) probably Daniel b. circa 1768.

Some family trees add a daughter Deborah but no records can be found to prove this. These family histories show this Deborah as marrying a Moses Harvey. Documentation is welcomed.
