Elbert Brooks, 41, taught physics and chemistry at Osborne High School in the Cobb County, Georgia school district, and was coordinator of the Christian Leaders on Campus program. He was well-known and well liked among his students and faculty.
He and Dora were taking a month long vacation to the Midwest, a trip they had planned and saved for over two years.
They were in the Big Thompson Canyon on the night of July 31, 1976, and caught in the flash flood that killed 143 people.
He is survived by his father, Jim Brooks, and step-mother, Mrs. Evelyn Brooks both of Tazewell; brothers Edward and Billy Brooks of Fairburn, Ga.
