Howard County Times Cresco, Iowa

Mrs. W. A. Clink
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, April 8, 1943 for Mrs. W. A. Clink who passed away at her home in Kendallville, Tuesday, April 6, 1943, after seven weeks of illness. A Prayer service was held at the home at 1:30 followed by the service at the Methodist Church in Cresco at 2:00 o'clock which was conducted by Rev. George Turner. Obsequial music was rendered by Mrs. George W. Turner and Mrs. W. A. Daskam, who sang "In the Garden" and "Saved By Grace" with Mrs. Paul Nagle at the organ.

Interment was made in the Kendallville Cemetery with the following acting as pallbearers; Earl Trouten, Chas.Curtis, Joseph O'Connor, Clifford Eddy, Walter Daskam and Dan Blackburn.

Alma May Burton the eldest daughter of Levi G. and Lucetta Burton, was born November 30, 1867 and passed away at her home on Tuesday April 6, 1943, at the age of 75 years, 4 months, and 6 days.

Except for a few years spent in the vicinity of Riceville and Lime Springs, her whole life was lived in Kendallville.

A feeling of deep sadness spread through the village when the news of her death became know to its residents. Of friendly disposition, she especially enjoyed visiting with her friends and neighbors, and was always ready to help anyone who was in need. These attributes , coupled with her keen interest in the life and affairs of the village and its people won for her the admiration respect of all.

On November 18, 1888, Alma May was united in marriage with Allen Clink.

To them was born one daughter, Edna May, now Mrs. Steve Todd.

Mrs. Clink proved herself to be a devoted wife and mother, one who loved her family and her home with an untiring affection. For many years she was a good and faithful worker for the Kendallville Ladies Aid Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church and in later years gave herself with the same uncalculating devotion to the Kendallville Grange of which she was a member.

During the last seven weeks Mrs. Clink was confined to her room, where she was lovingly cared for by her husband and their daughter. All that was possible was done for her, but death came to the relief of the tired spirit and she passed quietly away to the "Better Land."

Surviving her are her husband, her daughter and son-in-law; one granddaughter, Marion Todd; also three sisters: Mrs. (Nellie) Stephenson, Edna and Mattie Burton; all of the Kendallville vicinity besides many other relatives and friends.

Relatives from a distance who were here to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. G. G. Warburton, Mrs. Petra Arnold and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hemphill of Milford, Iowa; John Warburton and daughter Evelyn and Mrs. Oliver White of Riceville, Iowa; Mrs. Mary Porter, Burr Oak, Ia.; Mrs. Emil Hellum and Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Sanden of Hesper and Miss Charlotte Young of Mable, Minnesota.
