Mrs. John M. Betts of 4400 Austin Ave. died Saturday in a Waco Hospital. She was 78.
Mrs. Bettis was born in China Spring, a daughter of the late William Henry Smith & Laura Simmons Smith. She was educated in the China Spring schools. She married John M. Bettis in Dec. 28, 1909, and came to Waco in 1922.
Mr. Bettis operated anchor Mills for 31 years and retired in 1959.
She was a member of Seventh and James Bapt. Church.
Survivors: her husband; several nieces and nephews.
