Mrs. Blanche Dalton

Memorial services were held Saturday
morning August 25, 1984 at 10:00 a.m.
in the Presbyterian Church, Frankfort,
Kansas for Mrs. Blanche Dalton, who
earlier this month celebrated her one-
hundred-second birthday.

At the same time the service was being
held here, a service was also being held
in the Episcopal Church in Oklahoma
City, Oklahoma, for grandchildren and
friends who were unable to attended the
service here.

Blanche, the daughter of Joseph and
Rebecca (Cranston) Adams, was born
August 14, 1882 near Frankfort, Marshall
County, Kansas. She attended Marshall
county schools and Atchison Business
College. Blanche lived all of her life in
Marshall County.

She was married to Oliver L. Dalton in
1904 in Marshall County. To this union
two children were born, Marjorie and
Joseph.

Together, Mr. and Mrs. Dalton were in
business in Frankfort, Kansas for sixty
years, where Dannie Caffrey now has
his barber shop. Oliver and Blanche
operated a bakery, with the ovens being
qt the back of the building, an ice cream
parlor, which served homemade ice cream
in which they use a horse to turn the big
ice cream freezer and their grocery store.
They had a host of business acquaintances
and friends.

Mrs. Dalton was a long time member of the
Presbyterian Church, she was a member of the
original Jay Hawker Club and loved a good
game of bridge.

Blanche remained in her own home until
1978 before going to the care home to make
her home. She had spent the four previous
winters in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with
her son, Joe and his wife Marie, before going
to the home to live.

Blanche and Oliver had the privilege of
celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary
in 1954 and enjoyed life together for sixty-two
years before his death.

On Saturday, August 14,1962 at Little Timber
Community Center, her son, Joe and his wife,
Marie and her grandchildren hosted an open
house in honor of her one hundredth birthday.
at the open house she was privileged to have
with her all of her son's family. Pictures
were of five generations. She was also
honored with a dinner in the dining room at the Presbyterian Church with her family and
friends.

Blanche celebrated her one hundred-second
birthday on Tuesday, August 14, 1984 with
her son, Joe and daughter-in-law Marie being
here to help her celebrate the occasion. Her
birthday cake was served in the dining room
at the care home and shared with friends who
also were residents of the home.

Survivors include her son, Joseph (Joe) Dalton
and wife Marie, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma;
five grandchildren, John Copeland, San Jose,
California, Glenna Copeland, Spingdale,
Arkansas, Jody Moss, Oklahoma City, Okla-
homa, Fred Dalton, Denver Colorado and
Patti Cantrell, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma;
ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-
grandchild.

Reverend Coyne L. Gifford conducted
memorial service.

Scott Feldhausen, organist, accompanied
Mrs. Sally McMillen, soloist as she sang
"How Great Thou Art" and "My God and
I".

Serving as pallbearers were Robert Feld-
Hausen, Bruce Feldhausen, Loren Burton,
Robert Shubkagel, Joe Robinson, and
Ray Twidwell.

Honorary pallbearers were Don Twidwell,
and Edward Cassidy.

Blanch was a grand, sweet and wonderful
Lady and many friends attended the service.
she rests in peace beside her husband, Oliver
in the Frankfort Cemetery, Frankfort, Kansas.
