Mrs. Cleon Meekin Brown, 86, widow of John M. Brown, died in Griggs Nursing Home after a lingering illness. A native of New Albany, she was the daughter of Captain Charles H. Meekin, prominent steamboat captain during Civil War days. She resided in New Albany all her life and was a member of Wesley Methodist Church. Surviving are two nieces, Mrs. James J. Murray and Mrs. John Wilcoxin; a grand niece, Mrs. Mildred H. Fawcett, and a grand nephew, J. Russell Meekin, all of New Albany. - New Albany Tribune 11 Nov 1946 [chronic myocarditis/senility]
