James B. Cleland, 91, a resident of Sherwood Oaks, Cranberry Twp., passed away November 6, 2012.

He was born October 6, 1921, in Portersville, PA, son of the late Ira and Martha (Stickle) Cleland. James enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and spending time in his garden. Mr. Cleland retired as a Colonel with the Air National Guard, in which he served during Vietnam. He also served in World War II with the Army Air Corps.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, William, Donald, Dale, Paul, Phyllis, Dorothy, and Marian.

He is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, John 'Jack' and Virginia Cleland, Coraopolis; Thomas and Kathy Cleland, Dallas, TX; Robert and Roberta Cleland, Economy Borough; James 'Kevin' and Carol Cleland, Baltimore, MD, and Philip 'Flip' and Lisa Cleland, Mt. Lebanon; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia 'Patti' and Bruce Carfagna, Moon Twp.; twelve precious grandchildren: John, Barbara, Leighann, Julie, Nathan, Christopher, Melissa, Mandy, Lindsey, Patrick, Caitlin, and Abby; five special great-grandchildren: Haley, Cameron, Logan, Samantha and Spencer, and his brother, David Cleland.

In honor of his wishes, there will be no public viewing. Cremation arrangements are by the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Interment will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on November 30, 2012, at 2 p.m. with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Celtic Healthcare Hospice, 150 Scharberry Lane, Mars, PA 16046.
