He was born February 28, 1915 at Stono, MO, being aged 57 years, one month and 15 days at the time of his death. He was the son of Edward Elser and the late Mary Nieson Elser. He was a graduate of Doe Run High School, Class of 1933. He entered the service of his country in WORLD WAR II on January 26, 1942 at Jefferson Barracks and served for over four years in the EUROPEAN-AFRICAN AND MIDDLE-EASTERN THEATRES; receiving four BRONZE STARS and the GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL. He was in the Medical Detachment 255 Tank BN. He was HONORABLY DISCHARGED at Jefferson Barracks.
He was employed by the Trimfoot Company for twenty-six years.
On January 11, 1948 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Hardesty at Doe Run Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his mother; and one sister, Irene (Mrs. Lowell) Stephens.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Hardesty Elser; his father, Edward Elser; two brothers and one sister, Martin Elser of Iron Mountain, Homer Elser of Farmington and Idell (Mrs. Chester) Simmons of Bismarck; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. John Hardesty of Route One, Elvins; nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and a host of friends.
Chapel service was held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 15 at Millers Funeral Home in Farmington with the Rev. Charles Ellison and Brother Bill Wiles, Pastor of the Church of God at Doe Run, officiating. Interment was at the Doe Run Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Millers Service of Farmington.
