Kay spent her early years in Upland and then moved to Hastings. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1955 and then graduated from Kearney State College.
On June 7, 1959, she was married to Russell Olsen.
Kay and Russell lived near Minden. Kay was active in the family farm operation. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Minden, the Kearney County Genealogy Society and the Extension Club. She enjoyed yard work, playing bridge, crossword puzzles and "Jeopardy." Kay was very proud of her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband; son, David M. Olsen of Minden; daughters, Krista Potter and her husband, Ty, and Jennifer Olsen, all of Lincoln; grandchildren, Kendall DeJonge and his wife, Katy, Jake Olsen and his special friend, Michala Smidt, Nick Scheel and his wife, Kelsi, and Angie Scheel; great-grandson, Morrison Scheel; and half-sister, Dianne Blank of Fairfax Station, Va.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents.
Interment was in the Minden Cemetery, Minden, NE.
