Virgil P. Carlson, 91, passed away Nov. 11, 2012 in Ellsworth, KS.

He was born Oct. 3, 1921 on the family farm in Smolan, KS, the son of Rudolph and Hildur (Nelson) Carlson.

He was a US Navy veteran of WWII.

After returning from the war, he graduated from K-State and then worked for the K-State Extension Service from 1957-1982, serving in Lincoln and McPherson Counties and retiring as the County Agent in Ellsworth.

He was a member of Gideons International, Harvest Bible Church and a former Kiwanis member all in Ellsworth.

On April 15, 1951, he married Bernice Jean ‘Bunny' Benson in Ellsworth.

His wife survives along with their sons; Chris, Amarillo, TX and Eric, Williamsville, NY; daughters, Leaan Cardinale, Enumclaw, WA, Suzy Trombold, Independence, KS and Jan Hood, Ellsworth; brother, Earl, Dodge City and sister, Martha Ann Swensgard, Woodbury, MN; 11 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild.

His son, Dan preceded him in death, April 1, 1993.
