Willard Ison Fatally Injured In Mines
Willard Ison died on December 24, following injuries received a few days previous in the Marlowe mines at Sand Gap, Ky. Mr. Ison, the son of Hiram Ison, of Uz, was thirty-seven years of age. He was married, and had been making his home at Sand Gap where he was employed as a mine foreman. His wife and three children survive him. The funeral was held at the home of his grandfather Banks, at Uz. Burial followed in the family cemetery there. Ministers G. Bennett Adams, Kirby Ison, Caleb Creech, and Felix G. Fields officiated. The funeral was under the direction of the Craft Funeral Home.
