Charles T. Hartson enlisted as a Private in Company E of the Fourth Michigan Volunteer Infantry on October 5, 1861, for 3 years of service. He re-enlisted on December 29,1863, and was wounded in action on May 8,1864, at Petersburg, Virginia. Charles mustered out on February 26,1866.
