Amy I. Floyd, age 91 of Elysian, died Sunday, April 30, 2000 at District One Hospital in Faribault.
Born in Elysian Township, Le Sueur County, Minnesota on August 25, 1908, she was the daughter of Rudolph and Florence (Shave) Antl. She attended rural School District #74. She attended school; in Elysian through the 11th grade and graduated from Waterville High School in 1926. She married Theron L. Floyd on November 19, 1939, in Waterville.
She worked as a homemaker and was the cook at the Elysian School for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Elysian, was a charter member of the Ridgeroad Extension Club, a member of the lake Area Women and the Elysian Area Development Association.
She was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge in Elysian and the Elysian PTA. She was known for her volunteer work and had received the Diamond Pin Award from the Le Sueur County Home Extension in 1995 and was also the Grand Marshal for the Elysian 4th of July Parade in 1998. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, playing cards, crossword puzzles, painting, gardening, and spending time with her family. She had also kept a daily journal since 1926.
She will be deeply missed by one daughter Joyce and her husband Curtis Bohlen of Kilkenny; three grandchildren, Annette and Terry Larson of Apple Valley, Brad and Amy Bohlen of Waterville and Stqaci Bohlen of the University of Wisconsin in River Falls, WI; two great grandchildren, Rachel Amy Larson and Nathan Theron Larson. She is also survived by one brother, Marvin and Lola Antl of Elysian; one sister, Gladys Jewison of Janesville, and by a host of other people who knew her as Grandma Amy. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1964 and one sister, Inez Adams.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, German Lake, with Rev. Duane Everson officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Elysian.
Casket bearers were Kenneth and Joan Adams, Carl and Colleen Adams, Norman and Ione Knish, Roger and Marlys Boyum, Roger and Darlene Adams, Gary and Diane Jewison, Elmer and Irene Lamont.
Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home, Waterville, was in charge of arrangements.
