Evidently daughter of Archibald Hood & Emily J. (MARTIN) COLE. Married 20 FEB 1877 in Muscogee County, Georgia, to John TILLERY. Mother of two daughters.

On the 1900 census, Mary E. TILLERY heads a household in Ward 1, Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia, aged 52 years, born Aug. 1847 in Alabama (father born in SC, mother in GA), with daughters Bertha (aged 15 years) and Lena (aged 7 years).

"Mrs. M. TILLERY Died At Roswell: MOTHER OF COLUMBUS LADY PASSES AWAY AFTER A WEEK'S ILLNESS--REMAINS BROUGHT HERE. // Mrs. Mary TILLEY [sic], aged 60 years, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bertha DUBOSE, at Coswell [sic], Ga., following an illness of about one week from pneumonia. Mrs. TILLEY [sic] had a great many friends in Columbus, who will deeply regret to learn of her death. // She is survived by two children, Mrs. Bertha DUBOSE, of Roswell, and Mrs. Lena CURINGTON, of Columbus. // The remains will reach Columbus tonight, and will be taken to the home of Mrs. CURINGTON, 1436 First avenue, from whence the funeral will take place at 9 o'clock Friday morning, the services to be conducted by Rev. TILLERY whose death at Roswell, Ga., was reported in yesterday's Ledger, took place fromt heh omeof her daughter, Mrs. Lena CURINGTON, 1436 First avenue, at 9 o'clock this morning, the services being conducted by Rev. J. T. FARR. Quite a number of relatives and friends attended the last services over this much beloved woman. The remains were interred in Girard cemetery, the pallbearers being Messrs. J. T. TOMBLIN, Grigsby CURINGTON, L. A. McKAY, Jas. CURINGTON, H. C. COLE and Earl HILL." [Columbus (GA) Ledger newspaper, Friday, 31 MAY 1912, p. 4.]
