James S. Goza, a well-known citizen and former business man of this city died suddenly at an early hour Monday morning. Mr. Goza was in good health and spirits Sunday evening and made no complaint until after the evening meal. He retired early and went to sleep. He awakened a little before three o'clock in the morning and was suffering. his death occurred shortly after.
The funeral occurred from his late home on Tuesday afternoon. A short service was conducted by Rev. W. M. Poage of St. James Methodist Episcopal Church, South, followed by the ritualistic service of the Order of Moose.
The Moose, the Woodmen of the World and the improved Order of Red Men, to all of which Mr. Goza belonged, marched in a body to the grave. The final services was at the grave were under the direction of the two last named orders.
Mr. Goza was long in the grocery business on upper Lemon street. He was a man who made many friends and through his long residence in Palatka was known to nearly everyone. He is survived by a wife and step-daughter. (Palatka News Obituary dtd Friday, 7 Aug 1914.)
