Rose Lung Choo (Choo Mon Lung) was born on June 22, 1897, in Bakersfield, CA. She was the only daughter of Choo Ly from Poonyue County, Guangdong Province, China, and Wong Yuet Ngor (a.k.a. Wong Yet Gow), a native of San Francisco. Her father was one of Bakersfield's earliest Chinese residents and a prominent leader, serving as "head man" or "mayor" of Old Chinatown from 1890 to 1905. She had one brother, Charles Choo Way Ping.

On March 29, 1930, she married George Ng Kimm, who also came from a pioneer Chinese family in Bakersfield. Together they raised two sons, George, Jr., and Daniel, and one daughter, Eleanor Rose. She was a loving wife and mother, as well as a devoted daughter and sister.

She was an active member of the Bakersfield Chinese Women's Club.

She died on July 28, 1959, while at home in Bakersfield. She was survived by her husband, her children, her brother, and one grandson, Gregory Charles Kimm. In addition, she had a large extended family in the Bay Area.

Chinese characters: literally, "A woman of the Choo clan married to a man of the Ng clan" or "Mrs. Ng née Choo." The surname Kimm is the surname used in America by the family of her husband, George Ng Kimm, Sr. The family's true Chinese surname is Ng.
