Parents: Hugh (Hew) MacLean (Heugh Mclean in Scotland) and Margaret (Margret) Campbell of Rothesay, Isle of Bute, Scotland.

Catherine was baptized on 2 April 1724 in Jura, Argyll, Scotland.
