Services for Viola Clifton Lawhon Baker, 101, of 227 Green Street, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, with burial at Elmwood Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Bob Kelly will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Joe Cockran, Scott Evans, Danny Livingston, Ted Lawhon, Stevie Evans, and James Piga'ga. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Mrs. Baker, widow of Joseph M. Lawhon and Archie G. Baker, died Wednesday, December 4, 1996. Born in Vesta, Va., she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Lucy Dalton Clifton. She attended Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and was a local resident since 1916.
Surviving is daughters, Lois Wood of West Columbia, Lela Cockran of Columbia, Lene Gibbons of West Columbia, Lila Evans of West Columbia, grandchildren, Joe Cockran, Jimmy Wood, Steve Evans, Scott Evans, Ted Lawhon, Janie Livingston, Debra Bruce, Sharon Piga'ga, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
