Hazel was born July 4, 1917 in Alden to Henry and Barbara (Hochreiter) Ahnemann. She married Melvin J. Meyer on February 17, 1938 in Walters. Hazel was a homemaker all her life. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where she was involved in the sewing group, circle, and WELCA groups. Hazel was also a member of the Kiester Senior Citizens group. Hazel enjoyed traveling, sewing, gardening, flowers, and socializing with her friends and family.
She is survived by two sons; one daughter; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters; one brother; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin, and one brother - Elmer Ahnemann.
