Maude Gale, 88, of Route 2, Ava, died Wednesday in Memorial Hospital in Chester.

She was born June 7, 1886, in Fountain Bluff Township to John and Mathilda Ingram Bradshaw.

On April 22, 1903, in Murphysboro she married William F. Gale, who preceded her in death.

She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and the St. Ann Sodality, both in Raddle.

Survivors include sons, Van of Chandler, Ariz., Arthur of Ava, and Oliver of Gorham; a daughter, Jessie Rodewald of Jacob; a sister, Rose Sickler of Ludlow; eight grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

A son, two daughters, three grandsons, three brothers, and a sister preceded her in death.
