Mr. Alstat was a truck operator and dealer for the Shell Oil Co., until November 1, 1942, when he resigned due to poor health. He was a member of the K. of C. Lodge and the St. Andrew's church. He was a congenial "fellow" and had a host of friends.
The surviving relatives are his wife, Mrs. Vernice Alstat; a son, George Roger, 16 months old; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Alstat, of R.F.D. Vergennes; grandfather, Louis Kuehn, of Elkville; two brothers, Purle of St. Louis and Joe at home, and a sister, Mr. Anna Ebersohl, of Vergennes.
Mr. Alstat drowned in the Big Muddy River near Oakwood farm.
