Obituary: Flesherton Advance, 31 Mar 1948, p. 1

The funeral of the late Mr. Joseph Oliver Badgerow, who died at his home at Saugeen on Monday,
Mar. 22, was held on Wed. afternoon of last week. Rev. A .J. MacPherson conducted the service at
his late residence. Mr. Earl Bray of Proton Station, sang, " I won't have to Cross the Jordan Alone.
"The service was attended by a large number of neighbors and other friends. The Interment was
in the Flesherton Cemetery Chapel. The Pallbearers were C. Hindle, Earl Best,T homas Watson, S. Batchelor, Joseph Park and Robert White. Those who attended were S. Badgerow and family. Mr.
and Mrs. Angus Kennedy, of Hamilton; Geo. and Gordon Williams, Gordon Badgerow and Mrs. A.
McGlashen, of Toronto.
Mr. Badgerow was born on Feb. 1, 1860 on the 4th line of Artemesia, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Badgerow, pioneers of Artemesia, and grew to manhood. in the Portlaw District. He was married to Eliza Colgan, who died about 12 years after their marriage. Later, he married Maria E.
Park. who predeceased him by 17 years. He was highly regarded by a host of friends, and always
obliging and a good neighbour in every sense of the word. In earlier years he was a member of
the Orange Order. Mr. Badgerow had enjoyed perfect health all his life, and he was able to read
the newspapers without aids, and was interested in events of the day.
This winter he commenced to fail in his health, and was only bedfast five days prior to his death.
He leaves to mourn three children from his first marriage ; Samuel of Hamilton, Lida (Mrs. Myles)
in the West and Maggie (Mrs. Kennedy) of Hamilton; three sons from the second marriage; Bert,
Art and Ed. Badgerow of Saugeen Jet., also two stepdaughters, Mrs. A. McGlashen of Toronto
and Mrs. Charles. Jackson of Winnepeg. He also leaves three brothers and two sisters; Gordon of Toronto. Anson of Port Huron, Mich. &Herbert of Carnduff, Sask. and also two sisters Mrs. Robert. McIntyre of Mcintyre and Mrs. Alice Mooney of Strathroy.
