GEORGE ABEL
George Abel, aged 87, died Friday in the Suburban General Hospital. He was associated with Andrew Carnegie and other pioneers in the steel industry. He made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Catherine W. Neely, in Avalon. He was a lifelong resident of Pittsburgh and was instrumental in the beginning of the steel industry in Pittsburgh and Muncie, Ind. At the time of his retirement, 15 years ago, he was in the employe of the Bessemer works of the Carnegie Steel Co., at Carnegie. He was a member of the Ben Avon Presbyterian church and leaves a son, A.E. Abel, of Texas; two daughters, Miss Ida Abel of Ichang, China, and Mrs. Neely, and a sister, Miss Mary Abel, of Wilkinsburg.
