EDITH CHANDLER CORNFORTH, 84, of West Shore Road, a retired bookkeeper, died Sunday at Miriam Hospital, Providence.

Born in Burrillville, the daughter of the late Ethan A. and Elsie (Blakley) Cornforth, she had lived in North Kingstown and East Greenwich before moving to Warwick in 1994.

Miss Cornforth had been a bookkeeper for Primo Dental Lab of Warwick, and Finn Finance Co. of East Greenwich, for many years before retiring.

She was a graduate of Southeastern College, Durant, Okla.

She was an Army WAC during World War II, and served in the Korean War as a technical sergeant.

She was a member and treasurer of the Beacon Pole Hill DAR.

She leaves two cousins, Meredith Manning Jencks of Cumberland and Harriet Blakley Mellin of Warwick.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 5 p.m. at the CarpenterJenks Quaker Lane Chapel, 659 East Greenwich Ave., West Warwick. Burial will be in Slatersville Cemetery, North Smithfield.
