Frederick W. Gannett, 76, of Inverness, FL, passed away on October 15, 2012, at his home in his sleep. Mr. Gannett was born on March 11, 1936, to Harold and Dora (Loveless) Gannett in Granby, NY. He resided in Pennellville, NY, before retiring and moving to FL in 1991. He was an avid golfer and liked to fish. He served in the military from 1953 to 1956. Before retiring, he worked as a school bus driver for the Phoenix, NY, school system and operated the former Big Bend Inn for many years. He was a life member of VFW Post 4252 in Hernando, FL. Mr. Gannett is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan Fuller Gannett; son, Mark M. Gannett of Inverness, FL; three sisters, Betty Thurlow of Fulton, NY, Mildred Wood and Laura Landis, both of Inverness, FL; and one brother, William Gannett of North Syracuse, NY. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Bertha Godfrey, Catherine Russell and June Butler; brothers, James, Walter, Frank and Harold Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Inurnment will be in Jacksonville Cemetery in Jacksonville, NY. Cremation arrangements were made by Hooper Funeral Home in Inverness, FL. Donations in his name would be greatly appreciated to local pet shelters.
