Ellen Canfield died 22 November 1900 leaving her husband to care for several small children. At this point, Margaret and her siblings stayed with their paternal grandparents for a while. John married Minnie Bopp 21 March 1901 in Illinois. John and Minnie had at least 6 children. Their son, John, was born in Illinois and the following were born in Brockton, MA.
