Arlo Bradford Coleman
Arlo B. Coleman, 87, of Nampa, died Friday, Aug. 5, 1988, in a Nampa nursing home. Mr. Coleman was born Dec. 30, 1900, at Crawford Valley, Neb. to Alvan O. and Mary R. Coleman. In 1902, he moved with his family to a ranch in Kilgore, Neb. At the age of 16, he worked on cattle ranches in Valentine, Neb. Mr. Coleman graduated from Valentine High School in 1924. He married Nellie E. Galloway, daughter of Peter and Emma Galloway on May 3, 1928. Arlo worked for Armstrong's Grocery in Valentine, Kent Cash Grocery in Gordon, Neb., and Lambert's Electric in Hay Springs, Neb. During World War II, he worked at the Fort Robinson, Neb., fire station for five years. He was the custodian at Crawford, Neb., high school and grade schools. He was a scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America, and received the Order of Arrow award. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Crawford. In 1957, he moved to Nampa and was employed as custodian at the First Methodist Church. He also owned and operated ABC Custodial Services. He moved to Oakdale, Neb., in 1970, where he worked as a security guard for Wells Fargo. Arlo and his family moved back to Nampa in 1972. He was employed as a security guard for Bonded Police ADT until his retirement, and had resided in Nampa since.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie of Nampa; five sons, Robert Coleman of Hopkins, Mich., Donald Coleman of Orange, Calif., William "Bill" Coleman of Eagle, and Gerald L. Coleman and Peter M. Coleman both of Nampa, five daughters, Ardeth Cobble of Kuna, Iris Henning of Meridian, Beverly Serres of Chadron, Neb., and Jaunita Power and Sharon Haylett, both of Caldwell; a brother, Hardold Coleman of Valentine; two sisters, Ester Drinkwater of Valentine and Mary Pote of Casper, Wyo.; two sisters-in-law, Mable Coleman of Thermopolis, Wyo., and Elna Brady of Nampa; 43 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren; and numerous step grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, a son, Walter Bradford Coleman, three brothers, a sister, three grandsons, two granddaughters and a great granddaughter also died earlier.
