Daniel Cleveland Atkinson, 90, of Gastonia, passed away November 20, 2012 at the Robin Johnson House, Dallas. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Wampee, SC, officiated by Frankie Vereen. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII as a submarine radio operator. He was a former Deacon of East Baptist Church in Gastonia and a current member of Love Memorial Baptist Church in Gastonia. He retired from Ticaro Threads Inc. in Gastonia after 47 years. He was a graduate of The Citadel.
