George L. Seaman, 73, retired Katy engine inspector, died Thursday at 10:10 p.m. in a local hospital after a long illness. He was hospitalized for one day.
Funeral will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Bratcher chapel with Rev. James I. Logan, First Presbyterian pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7:30 to 8:30 o'clock.
Born in Kansas City, Kan., Nov. 28, 1886, Seaman married Mrs. Thelma York Mahaney at Ardmore Nov. 3, 1934. He came to Denison as a roundhouse foreman for the Katy and held that position for 13 years. He then became engine inspector and remained in that position until retiring in 1956. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the local machine lodger. He had also served as president of the Texoma Rabbit Breeders Association which was active in this area a few years back.
Seaman had lived in Denison 35 years, recently moving to the Rainbow Courts in Sherman.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry Seaman of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Willard Seaman of St. Louis, Mo.; a stepson, Forest Mahaney of Denison; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Perry of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. Lon Black of Kansas City, Mo., and four grandchildren.
