Ira Curtis Addis, 84, of Rostraver Township, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, in Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. Born in Grindstone, Oct. 14, 1920, he was a son of the late Fuller and Ada Belle Swink Addis. Curt was retired from the Homestead Works of U.S. Steel Corporation, where he was a diesel mechanic. During World War II, he served in Europe with the U.S. Army's Military Police at the Nuremberg Trials and the Battle of the Bulge. He is survived by his granddaughter, Tamara Matheny Tonini and husband, Marcus, of Greensburg; great-granddaughter, Ava Claire Tonini; brother, James Addis, of Grindstone; and sister, Mary Wiseman, of Canton, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Boyd Addis, on Aug. 4, 1989; a son, Curtis A. Addis, on April 23, 1974; a daughter, Norma Jean Matheny, on Jan. 14, 1982; and a brother, Oscar Addis. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Sweeney Plan/Rostraver Township, where funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kent Lighthall officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Carroll Township.
