Frankfort, Kansas, Index
Thursday, October 9, 1947
Dr. J. J. Drummond, 73, passed away on
Monday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the home
of Mrs. R.S. McGhie after an illness of
several months. He had practiced as an
Osteopathic Physician in Frankfort for the
past 40 years.
Dr. Drummond was born March 28, 1974
at Clinton, Ontario, the Dominion of
Canada.
Dr. Drummond was well known through-
out this part of Kansas, as he had not only
enjoyed a successful practice here but in
his younger days he made weekly business
trips to many towns in adjoining counties
where he had considerable practice. He
was regarded as an outstanding authority
in his field and took an active part in the
state association in years past.
Dr. Drummond’s name has been identified
in the business directory of Frankfort, for
many, many yeas, he being among the
oldest of our business and professional men.
He always was a booster for the town of
Frankfort and did his share in every patriotic
or welfare movement of the community and
could be counted on to assist in anything for
the good of his community.
Dr. Drummond was a friendly man, fond of
children and a good neighbor. He was fond
of baseball and we recall that he seldom
missed a game of baseball or football when
it was possible for him to attend. We recall
that whenever a baseball or football player
went to him for treatment to an injury,
that when inquiry was made as to his charge
“Doc” would always reply “Forget it, just
hit one for me”
Besides his wife he is survived by two
daughters, Mrs. Eleanor D. Hanna, of
Washington D.C. and Mrs. Lola Carneron,
Washington D.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Sara
Carnine, Los Angeles, California, Mrs.
Annie Riddel, Springview, Nebraskas and
Mrs. Margaret Ruhuke, Chatham, Canada,
and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday at
2:00 p.m. at the Padden Funeral Chapel
and burial was in the Frankfort Cemetery,
Frankfort, Kansas.
