David settled in the western part of Winthrop on Lot 79 where his father had lived.
He enlisted as a private in the War of 1812 and went into the Service on September 11, 1814.
He was not a man of happy temperament, and his peculiar ideas of religion often gave him great mental suffering.
He was a man of great mechanical ability.
He was a Divergent thinker.
His son, Sylvanus, was the inventor of the machine for making pegs, was also a thorough mechanic.
His son, Leonard, invented a bevel plane which possessed superior points of Merit.
His son, Oran, was a manufacturer of shoe- pegs. He was a man of deep thought, and a diligent student of history and the Scriptures.
