Born November 26, 1906 in North Loop, Nebraska to Rufus and Fannie Susan Davis Lawton.Married Gladys Giles May 28, 1931 in Coalville, Utah. She died December 26, 1969. Married LaVern S. Gale February 20, 1971 in Midway, Utah. Lloyd came to Heber Valley in the late 1920's as a miner. He was a car dealer and mechanic at Heber Motor. Operated a Utoco station. He helped build the Heber Valley Airport and was one of the first pilots to fly out of the airport. He was a farmer and voted Farmer of the Year in 1959. Helped organize the Heber Valley Riding Club and served as President. Also served as president of the Farm Bureau and Lions Club. Worked with the Future Farmers of America. Taught auto mechanics at Trade Tech in Provo. He loved woodwork and made beautiful clocks and gifts for family and friends.

Survived by wife of Midway; children, David L. and Carole Lawton, Blanchard, Oklahoma; Bert B. and Michelyn Lawton, Heber City; Nancy and Russell Cummings, Center Creek; step-children, Mrs. Jane Churchfield, Ivans, Utah; Mrs. Peggy Giles, Heber City; Mrs. Tamara Allman, Lehi; Michael S. Gale, Flagstaff, Arizona; 27 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Lena Dutton, Oakhurst, California; Mrs. Doris Ellis, Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Preceded in death by an infant son Leon G. Lawton, three brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services Saturday 1:00 p.m. at the Midway Stake Center (200 South 250 East) where friends may call one and a half hours prior to services. Burial, Heber City Cemetery.
