LEXINGTON PIONEER DIES ON TUESDAY
Mrs. Anne Beedon Relieved From Her Long Suffering. Funeral Services Held Thursday.
One of Croswell's beloved women passed away Tuesday afternoon of this week when Mrs. Anna Beedon, 76, was relieved of her long suffering, which she has endured for many years. Although not entirely disabled until the past couple of months she has been in very poor health, but at no time was she of the complaining nature. Mrs. Beedon always had a cheery word for all that she came in contact. Until she was compelled to go to her bed her hobby was fancy work and quilts, and many are the beautiful pieces she has made and given to others.
Mrs. Beedon was born in Milan, Ohio, September 8, 1856, and when two years old her parents moved to Lexington. On July 8, 1873, she married William Beedon, they settling on a farm in Lexington township. Here they resided until 1910, when Mr. and Mrs. Beedon took up their residence in the village of Lexington. The family has lived in Croswell about twelve years. Mr. Beedon died November 25, 1930.
Deceased leaves a daughter, Mrs. Mary Leonard, and Postmaster Frank Beedon, both of Croswell. Besides these she is survived by four brothers, County Clerk Joseph Dawe and O. A. Dawe, both of Deckerville; William Dawe, Elko, Nev., and Elias Dawe, Kansas City, Kan.; sister, Mrs. Edward O'Morrow, Brown City.
Mrs. Beedon has been a member of the Christian Advent church at Lexington since a young woman, and although not able to attend her home church for many years has been an active worker in the Methodist Episcopal church here.
Funeral services were held at the residence on Wells street on Thursday afternoon, being conducted by one of the deceased's choice and life-long friends, William Hatton, of Lexington. The service was in charge of Revs. Weaver and Heerschap, pastors of the Methodist and Presbyterian churches of this city. Burial was made in the Lexington cemetery.
