A funeral for Larence James Barrett of Lake Oswego, a retired Boy Scouts of America regional deputy, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Lakeridge Ward chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He died of a heart attack Saturday in the Tigard home of his daughter. Mr. Barrett was 74.

He was born March 24, 1918, in Almo, Idaho, where he was raised and attended grade school. He graduated from high school in Malta, Idaho, in 1936 and attended Brigham Young University for four years. Mr. Barrett worked for the Boy Scouts of America in numerous cities until his retirement in 1976. He moved to Oregon in 1968 and had lived in Lake Oswego since his retirement.

Mr. Barrett is survived by his wife of 49 years, Eldora; sons, Larence of Portland and Donald of Salem; daughters, Brenda Bryan and Laura Kreft, both of Tigard, Ruth Anderson of Beaverton and Doniece Shirzad of Salt Lake City; brothers, Clarence and Joseph, both of Malta, Idaho, and Dean of Bountiful, Utah; sisters, Edna Hartshorn of Malta, Vera Clark of Layton, Utah, Evelyn Weeks of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Wilma Ottley of Quincy, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Interment will be in River View Cemetery.
