George Washington Marsh, aged 75, of 1205 Campeau street, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Epworth hospital after a year's illness. He was employed as caretaker of the Lowell Heights Methodist church, of which he was a member, until his illness forced his retirement a year ago. He was born in Madison township, Cass county, Michigan, Aug. 21, 1869, and came to South Bend from Elkhart, Ind., 15 years ago. His widow, Nellie Wilcox Marsh, whom he married in Elkhart in 1898, survives, as does a daughter, Mrs. William Blanchard; a son, Frank Marsh, and four grandchildren, all of South Bend; and two sisters, Mrs. Rachel McDaniel, of Jet, Okla., and Mrs. Alice Elby, Harper, Kan. Friends may call in the Orvis funeral home after 7 p.m. today and until 1 p.m. Tuesday, when the body will be taken to the Lowell Heights church to lie until the service at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. J. A. Hornick, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Gracelawn cemetery, Elkhart.
