Chelmer grew up and attended school in Wright County and was united in marriage to Thelma Worsham on May 16, 1942 in Mountain Grove, Mo. Two sons were born to this union. They made their home in the Graff Community for over 49 years.
Chelmer was employed as a paint contractor in Fort Leonard Wood for several years. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially when hunting and fishing and tending to his farm.
He was saved at a young age and was a long time member of the Dawson Assembly of God Church. He faithfully attended as long as his health permitted. He enjoyed singing with his brothers and granddaughters over the years.
